About

Heidelberg Open Lab is a node of the Nencki Open Lab project. It is a grassroots initiative aiming to create local scientific communities that exchange skills and knowledge between neuroscientists – but also scientists from other fields of biology – by organizing workshops, courses, summer schools, seminars, and symposia.

Our activities are split into two branches: the first is the School of Tools, which focuses on providing high-quality training in experimental techniques used in neuroscience and other branches of biology, from programming, through electronics, 3D printing, data analysis – and more. The goal of the School of Ideas in Neuroscience, on the other hand, is to create an environment where neuroscientists can freely discuss their ideas and theories and take a bird’s eye view of the landscape of neuroscience with philosophers and social scientists.

Over the years, the Nencki Open Lab project has organized more than fifty workshops, seven summer schools, many courses, and symposia.

We want to organize similar events in Heidelberg and engage the local biological (and not only!) community in the exchange of skills that would make our research better – and more exciting.

Follow us for the announcements of workshops – or join us and organize events with us!
